His preaching circuit included MT, NV, CA, AZ and TX at the turn of the century. Most of his male siblings were pastors for the United Presbyterian Church. James attended Albany College 1896-1898 while living in Shedd, Linn Co., OR. He married Ida May Sears of Osborne, KS on November 02, 1899 in Corvallis, MT.
Spokane Obituary: "Spokesman-Review" Jan.7, 1932, Page 12 "Acheson, James W.--Age 60 years. Home was at W417 Mansfield. He was a stationary engineer, lived in Spokane 24 years. Survived by his wife, Ida (Sears), 2 sons, Harry and Robert of Spokane, 4 daughters, Mrs. P. A. Giesar, Mrs. E. W. Rongren, Miss Marie Acheson at home, and Mrs. Bert Broad, all of Spokane.
