John Albert Acord, 72, a longtime Brewster resident, died Wednesday, August 29, 1990, in the Okanogan-Douglas County Hospital at Brewster.
He was born November 4, 1917, at Brewster to Fred and Bertha (Carter) Acord. He joined the U.S. Army in November of 1940, serving most of his service time in Alaska.
He then returned to Brewster where he worked at the Bamble Lumber Co and Frank Webster's Furniture Store. He married Irene Barrows, July 2, 1948, at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. they owned and operated Elliott's Flower Shop in Brewster from 1960 to 1978.
Survivors include his wife, at home; two sons, Donald Barrows, Federal Way and William Barrows, Chicago Illinois, a daughter, Patricia Louise Murdock, Bellevue; a sister, Susie Louise DeRock, Davis, California; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
Services were held Friday, August 31, 1990, from the Brewster Cemetery with Pastor James Riggan officiating. Military rites by the Brewster American Legion Post #97.
