BECHTOL, Rosie M. "Jerry"
Rosie M. "Jerry" Bechtol, 88, passed away March 24, 2009, on the island of Maui, HI. She was born on July 24, 1920, in Spokane, WA and was the only child of Herman Fredrick Feske and Theresa Daugherty Feske. Her father was in road construction; therefore they lived in many areas. In 1938, she graduated from high school in Coulee City. On October 13, 1940, she married her high school sweetheart, Jasper Bechtol. They farmed and raised cattle in the Baird area until 1960. They then operated a fishing resort on the south end of Jameson Lake for five years. In 1967, they bought an irrigated ranch in Fordair, WA and she lived there until the spring of 2008. During that time, she drove school bus for five years and often spoke fondly of the children. In 1971, she started a 20-year career of delivering mail in the farming area west of Coulee City, driving over 100 miles a day. In March of 2008, she suffered a stroke and resided at McKay Healthcare Center for eight months, before moving to Maui, HI. Jerry and Jasper were blessed with five children, Barbara Gardner of Maui, HI, Joan Bise of Maui, HI, Marilyn Buob of Coulee City, WA, Nelda Penrose of Vancouver, WA and Raymond Bechtol of Maui, HI. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband of 62 years, Jasper Bechtol. She is survived by her five children; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Rosary will be said at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Grand Coulee Dam on Friday, April 3, 2009, at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Coulee City, WA on Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., with Father Robert Himes of Grand Coulee and Father Patrick MacMahon of Davenport officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Coulee City Ambulance or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by the Waterville Funeral Home.
