Lewis Franklin Burton, son of David L. Burton and Sarah Williams was born at Lone Star, Ks, May 25, 1873 and departed this life March 27, 1961 at his home at Webb, Ok at the age of 87 yrs 10 months, and 2 days.
He was the eighth child in a family of eleven children and the last survivor. He was reared on a farm near Lone Star, Ks. After finishing grade school he attended Baldwin College in Olathe, Ks. He taught school in both Ks and Ok.
In 1898 he came to Ok and filed on his homestead near Webb where he was living at the time of his death. He was the last of the early pioneers who homesteaded in this community.
He was united in marriage to Carrie Mabel Gore on April 1, 1903. To this union were born one son, Pierre W. Burton of Crane, Tx, three daughters Florence Epperly of Webb, Inabel Farris of Taloga, and Ima Gene Sourbeer of Long Beach, Calif.
