Mrs. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Ackerman, 83, an early resident of the Garfield area died yesterday at the Palouse Nursing Center.

Mrs. Ackerman was born Aug. 20, 1886, in Yagoda, Russia, and came to Whitman County in 1902.

She married Rhient Ackerman on May 17, 1903, in Dusty, Wash., where they lived for ten years before moving to a farm near Garfield, where they resided for the past 50 years. Mr. Ackerman died in 1955.

She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses since 1903.

Surviving is a daughter, Mrs., Dick "Clara" Glaspey of Garfield; three sisters, Miss Pearl Machlied of Moscow, Idaho; Mrs. Lena Stringer of Downey, Calif; and Mrs. Lillian Daniels of Bayview, Idaho; two brothers, Edward Michlied of Daytron, Wash; and Rhient Machlied of Pendelton, Ore; a granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bruning's Chapel. Burial will follow in the Colfax Cemetery.
