In 1956, an angel was spotted across a dance floor. On Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, the angel returned to heaven when Judy passed away at the family home.

She was born May 17, 1941, in Lewiston, to Marvin M. Lang and Edna M. Lang, and resided in Spokane for a short time before returning to Lewiston. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1959.

Judy met her husband-to-be, Charles W. Fred, in 1956 while in high school and they were married June 13, 1959. They made their home in Pullman, Clarkston, Lewiston and Asotin before moving to Cloverland in 1975.

She was a playground supervisor at the Asotin grade school from 1970 to 1973, but the job that was most important to her was mother and grandmother. Her family was the love of her life and she treasured each and every one. She was also active in the Wee Wauna Club and Asotin County Cattlewomen. The Cloverland Free Methodist Church was also an important part of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Ginger.

Judy is survived by her husband; her sons, Randy, wife Carol and their children, Amber, Craig and Derek; Lynn, wife Crystal and their children, Tyler, Austin and Hailey; Rick, wife Amy and his children, Rick Jr., Cody, Colton and stepson Vance; Jeff, wife Lacey and their child, Aubrie.

Merchant Funeral Home of Clarkston is in charge of arrangements.

There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, at the Cloverland Cemetery, with Pastor Rod Marshall of the Clarkston Free Methodist Church officiating.

Judy loved flowers, but memorials may also be made to the Lewiston High School Class of 1959.
