CHELAN -- A man and a woman are dead from gun shot wounds after a domestic dispute that led to an apparent murder-suicide minutes before midnight Saturday in Apple Acres, according to Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett.
Investigators believe Jaime Acevedo-Mendoza, 27, of Chelan, shot himself after shooting his girl-friend and housemate, Eloisa Villalobos Aguilar, 36, of Chelan, in the bathroom after she threatened to leave him.
Her three children, ages 13, 17 and 19, were relocated and are now living with extended family, according to the report.
Rivercom received a call at about 11:52 p.m. Saturday from a frantic female stating her mother had just been shot in their bathroom. Acevedo-Mendoza, was still inside the bathroom, possibly holding Aguilar hostage having claimed in the past if she tried to leave he would kill her, according to the report.
Deputies arrived a short time later to find a neighbor and three children running out of the home. Witnesses told deputies the male and female were both lying motionlessly on the bathroom.
Deputies found both deceased with the male having an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head and a pistol lying on the bathroom floor, according to the report.
Investigators learned there was a history of domestic violence between the lovers which had always gone unreported. Neighbors heard the incident but did not see it, according to the report.
While in the bathroom, an argument ensued between Mendoza and Aguilar which resulted in Mendoza walking out of the bathroom. Family members said Mendoza soon re-entered the bathroom and they heard their mother scream and then heard three consecutive gunshots with a fourth gunshot about 10 seconds later.
