Cpl. Glen H. Adkins, 95, a longtime Cashmere resident, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 9, 2005. Glen was born on July 26, 1910, to Guy and Nellie (Kemp) Adkins in Scotts Mills, Oregon. The family moved to Woodland, and then finally to Cashmere in 1927. He worked in the orchards and at De Hydro Foods before joining the Service in 1942. He is a member of the permanent personnel at the Army Reception Center at Ft. Douglas, Utah.
When he was honorably discharged in 1946, he became a cook on a fishing boat in Alaska, then a bartender at the Eagles in Wenatchee which he retired from in 1987. Glen spent all of his time in the outdoors, gardening, hunting and fishing. He will be missed by all. He was preceded in death by 8 siblings. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Ken Larson of Cashmere.
Graveside Services will be held at the Cashmere City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005. All friends and family are invited to a reception following the graveside service.
