When "we" becomes "me" - God came and took my beloved husband to a peaceful place on May 7, 2004. He will suffer no more. I'm sure God will have lots of odd jobs for Ed to take care of. He leaves his family behind...devastated, broken hearted, and so empty. Our warrior has left us.
Ed was born in Omak Washington, on August 9, 1930, to George and Mary (Lapp) Adam. He was welcomed into a family of three sisters, Cay Bates, Trudy Hendricks, and Bernadette Harris (1928-2011), and one brother, George Adam.
Ed graduated from Wenatchee High School, H&R Block classes, and several college courses.
In 1951, he married Shanon Hurt from Dryden, Washington.
He served three years in the Army, in the 13 Guided Missile Group at Fort Bliss, Texas. He spent his career teaching electronics.
Ed and Shanon raised five boys - Michael (Kelly), Robert (Linda), Kenneth, Shawn (Denise), and Kevin (Patti), grandchildren Joshua Adam, Micah (Mitch) Reister, Zachary Adam, Jessica Adam, and Brandon Adam, and one very dear great-grandson, Tyler Banning.
Ed's life was his family. He taught his sons how to hunt and fish, work hard, and to respect their mother. Along with five boys, he helped to raise cousin Linda Umbarger, and any other person that happened to frequent their home. There was always an extra place for anyone who showed up.
The highlight of Ed's life was last year, when his boys took him to Alaska to fish for halibut. He not only caught halibut, but shot a big black bear! He said he never felt better in his life. Two months later, he found out he had pancreatic cancer.
Thank you dad for devoting your life to your family. We shall meet again - it's just a question of when.
