Nellie Powell Ennis, 74, wife of the late Carl C. Ennis Sr. and a resident of Belle Haven, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Nassawadox. A native of Quinby, she was the daughter of the late Ernest C. Powell Sr. and the late Belva Young Powell. Mrs. Ennis was a retired supervisor for the General Electric Plant in Suffolk, a member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church and Exmore V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary # 4856. Survivors include five children, George Clarence Ennis of Portsmouth, Va., Glen Powell Ennis of Painter, Carl C. Ennis Jr. of Portsmouth, Jo Ann Jones of Painter and Margaret Sterling of Painter; a sister, Louise P. LeCato of Quinby; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ennis was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Walman; and two brothers, Ernest Powell Jr. and James Powell. Funeral services were conducted Friday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. from the graveside of the Quinby Cemetery with Rev. Tom Durrance officiating. Memorials contributions may be made to Smith Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Anna Warren, P.O. Box 79, Quinby, VA 23423.
