THE LEBANON ENTERPRISE, page 1, Friday, January 20, 1939. F. S. BENEDETTI TAKEN BY DEATH. Former Lebanon Confectioner Expires in Louisville.

F. S. Benedetti, 72-year-old confectioner and restaurant operator in Lebanon for approximately forty years died last Friday morning at his residence on Jackson Street in Louisville where he had made his home since discontinuing business here four years ago. He had been in ill health for several months and was retired.

Funeral services were conducted at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Louisville at 8:00 o'clock Monday morning, and burial followed in Mt. Olive Cemetery at Paris where he and his family made their home before coming to Lebanon.

Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Claude Bartolli Benedetti, three sons, Joseph Benedetti, and Frank Benedetti, Jr., of Louisville and Louie Benedetti of Frankfort. Two grandchildren also survive.

No reference to Lebanon business life during the past four decades would be complete if the names F. S. Benedetti were omitted. Although a native of Italy and schooled there, he and his wife came to America when he was a young man, and a few years later settled in this city where he opened a confectionery. For years his establishment was on the site of the Western Auto Supply Store. During his local business career, he had at various times as partners, W. A. Humkey, Carl W. Taylor, J. Lee Goodin and F. E. Hardesty.

Twice he and his family moved to Paris for brief intervals but returned to Lebanon. After disposing of his interest to Mr. Hardesty and John Hardesty in a confectionery operated in the building now housing Gerstle's Department Store, he was proprietor of a restaurant next to the Farmers National Bank building. He sold, however, about four years ago and had since been in Louisville.

Mr. Benedetti was highly regarded here. He was recognized as an honest, upright, and kindly gentleman, and his death was learned with regret by his many friends.
