This day, January 11, 2005, our beloved Aunt Olean was laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery. Many memories come to mind of the life that she lived and her contribution to lives of her children and also those of us that were her nieces and nephews. Some memories were serious and others gave quality to our lives that were not so serious. I remember well that on one occasion we caught a snapping turtle in the pond and decided that it would be a cool thing if it were cooked and served to my parents. She not only cleaned the turtle but also cooked for supper for all of us to enjoy. I recall my father thinking this was a fairly good meal but the bones were not consistent with anything that he had seen before. We all got a great laugh out of the whole ordeal and continue to do so some 45 to 50 years later.
