Delbert Dean Barber (83), widower of Helen Lee Barber, passed away at his home Saturday, May 11, 2013, after a long illness.
He was born March 27, 1930 in Carter County, Kentucky to the late Thomas Herbert and Clara Belle Barber. He was a wonderful husband to Helen for 60 years, a loving father, proud granddaddy and great-granddaddy. Delbert was a faithful deacon and treasurer for many years at Cedar Grove Baptist Church. After graduating from Peaks Mill High School in 1950, he served in the army during the Korean War. A former employee of KY Die Casting and C & D Products, his real passion was his farm.
He is survived by children Debbie (Ken) Walker of Stamping Ground, Dean Barber of Stamping Ground, Susie (Danny) Stevens of Frankfort, and Shari Barber of Stamping Ground; grandchildren, Michael Pratt (Jing-Jing), Jennifer Celestino (Adriano), Deanna Walker, Jinger Stevens, Kimberly Stevens, Brynne Stevens, and Aaron Stevens; and great granddaughter Isabella Lee Celestino. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy Morrison, and a brother, Tommy Barber.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Biggs Riddle, and brothers Charles Herbert Barber, and Gobel Biggs.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013 at the funeral home. Brother Darrell Taylor will be officiating.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Stevens, Ken Walker, Steve Popp, Tom Hunley, Wayne Bramblett and Bobby Hyatt. Honorary pallbearers will be Michal Pratt, Aaron Stevens, Adriano Celestino, Aaron Popp and Tommy Barber.
