DIED OF HIS INJURIES
In our last issue a paragraph told of the accident to Charles Martin Adams, son of J. W. Adams, of this place, which occurred two hours before, that is at 3 o'clock P. M. Tuesday. He was coupling cars at Parksville and got caught between the bumpers and was squeezed so that he fell when the slack came and his left leg was mashed above the knee. Drs. Pittman, Caldwell and Bolling amputated the member, but the shock of the accident was too great and he died at 12:45 A. M. His back showed bruises and scars and he must have been injured internally. He had been braking for the L. & N. about four years and was considered an excellent man, being highly thought of both by the officers and emploees of the road. He was 27 years old and unmarried. Several years ago he joined the Christian church here and on his dying bed, assured the ministers and loved ones that he was going to Heaven. His remains were brought here Friday at 1 o'clock and at 4 that afternoon, Rev. J. T. Sharrard preached the funeral sermon at the residence of his parents, after which, under the auspices of the Knights of Pythias, of which Order he was an honored member, the remains were interred in Buffalo Cemetery. Great sympathy is felt for his heart-broken parents, sisters and brothers, to whom his sudden taking away is an awful blow.
