SHREWSBURY Josephine Eva "Josie" Bonner, 94, died Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Shrewsbury. She was the wife of the late Harry M. Bonner, whom she married on October 5, 1937. At Josie's request there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Joseph Giesey Memorial Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Josie was born July 24, 1918, in Red Lion, a daughter of the late Paul E. and Mazie E. (Bisker) Heyne. Josie attended a one room schoolhouse in Larue. She retired from the former Sylvania (GTE) Company in York, and was previously employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Barley Convalescent Home in York. She also worked at the former W.C. Anstine Sewing Factory in Railroad, and the former Shrewsbury Sewing Factory. Josie was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Shrewsbury for 70 years. She loved to reminisce about her childhood memories and especially enjoyed attending the Heyne family reunion. Earlier in her life, Josie and her beloved late daughter Rose, enjoyed decorating their home for every holiday, especially Christmas. She is survived by a sister, Virginia H. Gembe and her husband, Hershner of York; brothers, Rayburn A. Heyne of York and Ernest E. Heyne of Potosi; a sister-in-law, Doris Heyne of York; grandsons, Charles W. "Wes" Griffin, IV and his wife, Kimberly of Felton and Mark D. Griffin and his wife Cheryl of Chickamauga, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Mark Daniel Griffin, Emily P. Griffin and Matthew W. Griffin; and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband, Josie was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosalee J. Bonner; son-in-law, Charles W. Griffin, III; and three brothers and one sister. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 35, Maryland Line, MD 21105. J.J. Harteinstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 N. Second St., New Freedom, is assisting the family.
