Doris L. Church, 82, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at St. Mary Medical Center, Langhorne. She was the wife of the late A. Burnell Church.
Doris was born on August 28, 1930 in York, a daughter of the late Jesse D. and Leafa L. (Searfoss) Brown.
She was an elementary school teacher having retired from the York City School District and previously had worked for the Jewish Community Center and York Suburban School District. She was a member of Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was the director and teacher of vacation Bible School as well as a teacher of the confirmation class. She was past president of the Young Womens Club, 1968-1969, and past president of the Multiple Sclerosis Hope Club.
Visitation with the family will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Luther Memorial Church, 1907 Hollywood Drive. The memorial service will begin at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Elizabeth Polanzke officiating.
Burial will be private in Geesey Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
Doris is survived by two sons, Gregory A. Church, husband of Maureen, of Newtown and David T. Church, husband of Dani, of Wrightsville; two grandchildren; two sisters; Ruth Sowers, of York and Jeanne Amberman of Towson, Md.
