HEBER CITY, UT - Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Donald Alvey returned to be with his Heavenly Father on August 10, 2002. Don was born March 31, 1933 in Escalante, Utah the son of Arnold and Zella Schow Alvey. He married his sweetheart, Joan LuRae Frkovich May 16, 1953 in Park City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 15, 1966. Don was a kind and gracious man who dearly loved his wife and family. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. Don was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and worked in many callings. He was employed first at Utah Fire and Clay. Later he worked as a miner in Park City, Utah as well as in Wyoming and Arizona for many years. Next, Don worked on a ranch in Idaho. His last position was with the Park City School District. He worked on the maintenance crew for 15 years until he retired in December 2001. Don had a passion for working with horses. He truly enjoyed his horses. He spent many hours training them. Don is survived by his wife, Joan, of 49 years; children, Don J. (Teddi) Alvey of Missouri City, TX; Faye Marie (Rohl) Hipwell of Oreana, ID; Michael K. (Cindy) Alvey of Rawlings, WY; and Cameron (Lisa) Alvey of Heber City. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters; Del Ray (Donna) Alvey of West Valley City; Velma (Blaine) Durrant of Lehi; Gayle (Earl) Stonehocker of Kearns; and Tommy (Tammy) Alvey of Escalante. Don has 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews. Don is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Don was a quiet and very special man who was loved by everyone who knew him. His wife, Joan, will always love him. His children and grandchildren will never forget the influence that he had on their lives. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2002, 12 Noon, in the Heber LDS 5th Ward, 150 North 200 West, Heber City. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the LDS Church and on Wednesday from 10:45-11:45 a.m. prior to the services also at the LDS Church. Interment will be in Mt. View Memorial Park, 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City at approx. 2:30 p.m. Arrangements in the care of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, Heber City.
