Frank Edward Allred, 78, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2011, at his home in Cottonwood Heights, Utah surrounded by his loving family.
He was born September 5, 1932 in Monticello, Utah to Wilson Horace Allred and Frances Ila Walton. He attended elementary school in Monticello and later graduated from Pershing County High School in Lovelock, NV.
He honorably served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On June 19, 1963, he married his life's love and eternal companion, Diana Mae Taylor in the Manti Temple.
For thirty years, he was employed by the Utah Department of Corrections at the Utah State Prison as a Warehouseman, Supervisor and eventually retired as the head of the Purchasing Department. He received a number of awards for his duties, honesty, and ethics, including one from the Governor of Utah, which was a great source of family pride and honor.
Following his retirement, he enjoyed working countless hours at the Jordan River and Salt Lake Temples as an ordinance worker as well as patron.
Aside from his numerous Good Samaritan efforts and service to others, in his spare time he thoroughly enjoyed woodcarving and created numerous award-winning pieces.
He is survived by his wife, Diana; his children, Bruce (Kristy), Jane (Erik Henley), Tom (Marianna), Sally (Bart Bowen), and Dale (Allison); and twelve wonderful grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters and brother, Donna (Chris Christensen), Meade (Pat), Mary Ann Hill, Carol Miller, and Janet (Henry Todd). Preceded in death by his brother Wilson and sister Frances Hunt.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. in the Greenfield Ward House, 6648 Greenfield Way, Cottonwood Heights, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 24, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah, and a viewing at 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral at the Greenfield Chapel.
Interment will be in the Mountain View Memorial Estates Cemetery.
