Charlie A. Altman of Macclenny died March 20 in a Jacksonville hospital. The Baker County native and life long resident was owner and operator of Macclenny Shoe Store and a member of the Macclenny Church of God. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Crews Altman of Macclenny, two daughters; Rhoda Miller and Joann McCalvin; two sons; Charlie Altman, Jr., and Freddy Tyson, all of Glen St. Mary; one sister, Verlie Rewis of Marietta; and 11 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, March 23 at 11 A.M. in the Macclenny Church of God with Dr. Lewis J. Willis, Rev. Chester Shouppe and Rev. Gilbert Medina officiating. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Macclenny. Casketbearers were: Sheriff Joe Newmans, John. J. Barton, Ron Nichols, Harry Crews, Mike Canaday and Floyd Conner. Honorary pallbearers were all the male members of the Macclenny Church of God in attendance. Fraser Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
