Allen - Ms. Maebrooks P. Allen, 91, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on May 16, 2008 at her residence. She was born on September 4, 1916 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late P.R. and Ellen Brooks Peters and has been a resident of Macclenny for the past 63 years. Ms. Allen was self-employed at C.C. Allen Timber Company for 40 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Macclenny where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a founding member of the Ladies Hospital Auxillary. Ms. Allen was also appointed by Gov. R.A. Gray and Gov. Fuller Warren to be a member of the Board of Social Welfare District 5 for Baker County from 1949-1957. She enjoyed horseback riding and playing cards. She is predeceased by her husband of 43 years, C.C. Allen; brothers, Charles "Buddy" Peters and William S. "Billy" Peters; sister, Lil Malone; and grandson, Robert Royal.
Family members include her daughter, Patricia McGlashan of Macclenny, FL; grandchildren, John A. Royal and Tommy D. Royal both of Macclenny, FL; 4 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Pope officiating and interment following at Woodlawn Cemetery.
