Ensign L. W. Abbott, USNR, was designated Naval Aviator #9266 in 1941. Entered active service via the pre-war Aviation Cadet (AVCAD) program. Following the war was the last commanding officer in 1948 for Attack Squadron One L (VA-1L). Retired with the rank of Commander, USN, in 1963.
