Charles H. Bond, 92, of Iberia, died Monday, March 8, 1971 at Memorial Community Hospital in Jefferson City. Mr. Bond had lived near Iberia almost all of his lifetime with the exception of a few years in Panama, Okla. He was a farmer, and early in his life owned and operated a cafe in Iberia.
Mr. Bond was born July 9, 1878 near Iberia, the son of the late Louis A. and Martha (Blize) Bond. On Dec. 9, 1900, he was married to Miss Izzie Barlow. She died Jan. 16, 1953.
Mr. Bond was a member of the Iberia United Methodist Church and a former member of the Modern Woodmen of America.
Survivors include one son, Billie W. Bond, Wapato, Wash.; one daughter, Mrs. Lottie Barr of Iberia; one brother, John D. Bond of Iberia; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie Hensley of Ulman and Mrs. Sadie Law of Eldon; six grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Mr. Bond was also preceded in death by one son, Burgess, on April 28, 1904 and by three sisters and four brothers; Miss Molly Bond on March 28, 1890; Mrs. Jennie Law on Dec. 18, 1913; Mrs. Della Waite, June 5, 1953; George Bond, Aug. 9, 1951; Joe Bond, Jan. 5, 1969; and Jesse Bond Aug. 29, 1970.
Funeral services for Mr. Bond were to be held today (Thursday) at the Iberia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Brown officiating. Burial was in the Livingston Cemetery near Iberia under the direction of Stevinson Funeral Home of Iberia. Pallbearers were Wade and Jasper Hensley, Floyd and Jim Barlow, Bobbie Bond and Bobbie Law.
