Wilbert Aust, 87, of Mexico died Friday, October 12th, at Boone County Hospital, Columbia. Mr. Aust was a former resident of Iberia.
He was born Dec. 1, 1891, at Iberia, son of Charles and Rosalie Smith Aust. On Sept. 9, 1915, he was married in Miller County to Sadie Albertson, who died April 17, 1970.
He was a retired farmer and stockman and served as presiding judge in Miller County for many years. He was a member of the Church of Christ, the Masonic Lodge at Iberia and the Mexico Senior Citizens. He served on the County Board of Education during the reorganization and consolidation of the rural school districts.
Survivors include: Two sons, Wayne Aust, Kingsville, and Gail Aust, Columbia; two daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Barlow, Mexico, and Mrs. Rosalie Barr, St. Charles; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Glawson, Iberia; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 14, at the Stevinson Funeral Home, Iberia, with Bro. Virgil Gardner officiating. Burial was in the Livingston Cemetery at Iberia. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Senior Citizens Center at Mexico.
