Eric Adams, age 88, of Niceville, Fla., died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in a local hospital.
He was born in Dothan, Ala., on Nov. 4, 1911. He was a resident of the Emerald Coast since moving from Dothan in 1954 and was a charter member and helped organize Wright Baptist Church. He served as a deacon at several area Baptist churches.
Mr. Adams was a World War II veteran and served in the central Europe and Rhineland campaigns, receiving the American Theater Good Conduct Medal; Overseas Service Bar; and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with two bronze stars. Mr. Adams was a civil service employee who retired from Hurlburt Field with the 834th CES.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Adams of Niceville; sons, Michael Adams of Warner Robins, Ga., and Joe Adams of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; sister, Sybil Draugham of Tallahassee, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at Wright Baptist Church with Dr. Ronald D. Wilcoxson officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Beal Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wright Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach.
Little Chapel Funeral Home, 910 Beal Pkwy., Fort Walton Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
