JOHNSONVILLE -- Walter Earl Brown, 80, died Saturday, May 17, 2003 in a Florence hospital.
Mr. Brown was born in Gresham, a son of the late Earl Lexington and Nellie Bostick Brown. He was the retired owner and operator of Brown's Wholesale Candy Co. for 42 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he was church treasurer for 39 years and taught Sunday School for several years and was a member of the Men's Bible Class. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II and was a graduate of Britton's Neck High School, Class of 1939.
Surviving are: His wife, Frederica Richardson Brown of the home; sons, Freddy (Patsy) Brown of Florence, and Al (Donna) Brown of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Alexa Blackmon of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Melissa B. Holloran of New Hall, Calif., Stepahnie Brown of Raleigh and Derick Brown of Florence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 20 in the Trinity United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will take place in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 6 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home.
