Her suggestion:
First wife was Margaret F. Summers, b. 1835 in Illinois, daughter of John Summers and Virginia Watson. She died after 1880. At the time of James Madison Doolen's death, he was married to a woman named Bettie, whom he married in 1887 in Navarro Co., Texas, according to her pension application.

James' father fought in the UNION Army, out of Marion County, Illinois, which was his hometown before moving to Navarro Co, TX in 1853, his name was William Doolen FAG# 119642410. William Doolen is my ancestor.
