LITTLE RIVER - Services for George Beckham Adams, 64, of River Hills, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach with burial in North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens. The Reverends Bobby Wilkes and Dave D'Allessio will officiate. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, SC, 1300 N. Kings Hwy., Myrtle Beach, 29577 or to the United Way of Horry County, 761 Century Circle, Conway, 29526. The family will receive friends at the home, 819 Knoll Drive, Little River. Hardwick Funeral Home of Loris is in charge.

Mr. Adams died Saturday, April 17, 1999, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence following an illness. Born Feb. 28, 1935, in Lexington, Ky., he was a son of the late Clarence T. Adams and the late Dorethea Verne Gilchrist Adams. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam in 1966 and was awarded the Legion of Merit. He received the Army Commendation Medal in 1966, the Bronze Star in 1967, and the Meritorious Service Medal in 1970. After twenty years, he retired from the military in 1976 as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Finance Corps. He retired in 1998 as the executive manager of the Little River Water and Sewerage Company. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in general business from the University of Kentucky and his Master degree in commerce from the University of Richmond in Virginia. He was the immediate past president of the United Way of Horry County, served as board member of the South Carolina Rural Water Association, member of the Long-Range Planning Committee of the Loris Health Care System, member of the Advisory Board of BB&T Bank in the Little River area, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Jordan Adams of Little River; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Vincent Caiola of Manchester, Conn.; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin T. and Suzanne Adams of Lexington; stepson, William T. Neville III of Charleston; sisters, Joe Baer of Los Alamos, N.M., Claire Haddon of Suwanee, Ga.; grandsons, Taylor and Jordan Caiola of Manchester, Conn.; granddaughter, Madison Faith Adams of Lexington.
