David Alford, 55, of Bay City [Matagorda Co.] passed away Monday, January 1, 2007, at his home. He was born December 25, 1951, in Floresville [Wilson Co.], TX, to Delmar Ray and Mary Helen Lockhart Alford. David was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved God and his church; he was a lifetime member of the Sweeny Church of Christ. His passion for life, family and friends, hunting and fishing were neverending. He worked alongside his family as a rancher and cowhand by trade.
He is survived by wife, Jan Alford of Sweeny; mother, Mary Helen Alford of Sweeny; daughter, Kay Lynn Alford of Van Vleck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ty Wesley and Sammi Alford of Van Vleck and David Lang and Karen Alford of San Angelo; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Indest of Pearland, Susan and Glenn Salyer of Sweeny, and Sally and Robert Lynch of Sweeny; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Susie Alford of Sweeny; and three grandchildren, Chasidi Jackson, Colyn Alford and Claire Alford, all of Van Vleck. He was preceded in death by his father, Delmar Ray Alford, and by his sister, Dawn Alford.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007, at the Church of Christ in Sweeny.... Interment will follow at the Sweeny Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ralph Cole, James Lee Finley, David Thompson, Dickie Thompson, Scott Barber and Tim Jackson. Honorary pallbearer will be Bill Roberts....
