Harriet Achterhof Succumbs Tuesday

Morrison – Mrs. Harriet (Hattie) Achterhof, 85, of Morrison died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Geneseo.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Reynolds Funeral Home with the Rev. Harry Buis of the Ebenezer Reformed Church officiating. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Achterhof was born June 14, 1887 in Fulton, the daughter of Elle and Jennie Vogel Ostema. She was reared and educated and spent most of her life in the Fulton and Morrison area. She was united in marriage with Jacob Acherhof in 1910 and he preceded in death in June 1944.

Surviving are three daughters and three sons, Mrs. George (Janet) Lartz of Savanna, Mrs. Theodore (Eloise) Salminen of St. Paul, Minnesota, Mrs. John (Phyllis) Wiersema of Morrison, Raymond and Bernard Achterhof of Geneseo and Marvin Achterhof of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She also leaves 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Preceded in death were her husband, twin sisters in infancy, a twin brother Bernie and a half-sister.

Mrs. Harriet Achterhof

Morrison – Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Achterhof of Morrison, who died Tuesday evening in the Samaritan Nursing Home at Geneseo were held Friday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. in the Reynolds Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry Buis, pastor of the Ebenezer Reformed Church officiated and burial was in Grove Hill Cemetery.

The pallbearers, all grandsons of the deceased, included Gil Achterhof, Kim Achterhof, John Achterhof, John Salminen, Alan Wiersema and Jack Finch.

The organist, Mrs. Abe Renkes, played a special number "In the Garden" during the services.

The Reynolds Funeral Home was in charge of the floral tributes and arrangements for the funeral were also in charge of Reynolds.
