Earl Warren Alexander, 75, went home to rest on March 14, 2010. Earl was known as Alex by all who knew and loved him. Alex was born June 22, 1935, in Butte, to Fred and Emma Alexander. The family moved to Turtle Lake, where Alex graduated in 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September 1954. He re-enlisted and served in Korea and Vietnam.
Alex was hired by Northern States Power to join the journeyman training program. He moved to Minneapolis in 1964. He quickly moved through the ranks to become an electrical operator. He left Minneapolis for Underwood in December 1977 to train while Coal Creek was being built. In total, Alex spent 20 years in the power industry.
On June 10, 1967, Alex married Joan Lucille Price in Detroit Lakes, Minn. They had two children, Terry Warren and Michelle Lee. Alex enjoyed fishing at the cabin on Leech Lake near Federal Dam, Minn. He also loved sports and playing at the casino. Alex was always the jokester, finding humor in any situation. One of his favorite pastimes was reminiscing about the "old days."
Alex is survived by his wife, Joan; his son, Terry, San Jose, Calif.; and his daughter, Michelle, Mandan.
His parents; two bothers, Duane, Donald; and one son, Paul, preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 19, in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
