Bob L. Addington, 72, Bismarck, died Aug. 20, 1998, at his home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at First Presbyterian Church, Bismarck, with the Rev. Jeannette Hickman officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota State Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan, with V.F.W. Post 1326 officiating.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today, and 1-9 p.m. Sunday, both at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, and for one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Bob was born on Aug. 8, 1926, at Wahkon, Minn., the son of Roy and Marian (Middlemas) Addington. At the age of 12, his family moved to Bismarck where he graduated from Bismarck High School in 1945. Bob entered the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II and was discharged in 1946. He married Lila Graf on Sept. 3, 1948, in Linton. They lived in Bismarck and Bob founded Dakota Music Company in 1948, which he owned and operated until 1983. He retired due to illness but remained active in the business until this past year.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He was a member of the Elks, Moose, AMVETS, American Legion and V.F.W.

He is survived by Lila, Mesa, Ariz.; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Robin Addington, Bismarck; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Michael O'Brien, Bismarck, and Susan and Ryan Short, Olathe, Kan.; six grandchildren, Maureen and Marcus Addington, James O'Brien, Jennifer Benjamin and Adam Short; three brothers, Mark, Bismarck, Dick, Loveland, Colo., and Glen, Mesa; and three sisters, Helen Pharr, and his twin sister, Betty Posey, both of Bismarck, and Reva Bischak, Detroit, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Michaela "Kaela" who at age 17, died in Nov. 1996; his parents; one brother, Donovan and one sister, Verona.

Memorials may be made to the North Dakota State Veterans Cemetery. (Eastgate Funeral Service.)
