|Death: ||May 29, 2013|
Mrs. Ada Louise Stuckey Avant, 92, widow of Ollie L. Avant, of Hanahan, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in the serenity of the Hospice of Charleston facility in Mt. Pleasant, SC.
Louise was born on November 12, 1920, at the family home, a daughter of the late Robert Wheeler and Ada Rose Stuckey. She attended Lander College and eventually returned to Stuckey to work as a nurse at the Johnson Memorial Hospital.
Although she will be sadly missed, she will always be remembered for her sweet nature and kind words. No matter what the circumstances she would seem to find the good in a person. She was extremely proud of her family and despite her humble ways, would be caught boasting on them often. This would not only include her children but all of her nieces and nephews, which she felt a special closeness to, especially since she was the last of the Stuckey children surviving, having witnessed the passing of her 11 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Belinda Cole, and Annette Moore and her husband, Kim both of Charleston; son, Robert (Lou) Avant of Hanahan; one granddaughter, Sarah Louise Moore of Charleston; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held at 2:00PM Friday, May 31, 2013, at Indiantown Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Thornwell Home for Children, 302 S. Broad St., Clinton, SC 29325 or to Indiantown Presbyterian Church, 4865 Hemingway Hwy., Hemingway, SC 29554.
