Henrietta Bodona, 86, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, in Tuba City.

Mrs. Bodona was born in Tonalea. Her clans were Tliiz ii Laa nii (Manygoats) and Biih Bii Toh nii (Deer Springs). She attended the Tuba City boarding school, and when World War ll broke out, she went to California and worked for the railroad. In 1945, she met and married Ray Bodona, and together they raised 12 children and adopted one granddaughter. Her favorite pastime was to travel. Besides Flagstaff, Phoenix and the Navajo Nation, her other favorite places were Wyoming, Montana and Colorado.

Mrs. Bodona is survived by sons Dennis Bedonie (Ella) and Albert Bedonie, both of Tuba City; daughters Dorothy George (Edward) of Phoenix, Shirley Yonnie (Wakely) of Pinon, Carmen George (Jeffery) of Phoenix, Lillie Bedonie of Phoenix, Beatrice Farrel (James) of Tuba city, Wanda Bedonie of Phoenix, April Bedonie of Flagstaff and Ronnie Tohannie (Ed) of Phoenix; 26 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; and three children.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church, 3926 S. Walapai Drive, in Flagstaff. The Rev. Tom Claus will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Citizens Cemetery.

Valley Ridge Mortuary of Tuba City is handling arrangements.
