Claude Roberson "Hap" Adams, Jr., of Columbia, died April 23, 2009. He was 89.

Born in Columbia, he was a son of the late Claude Roberson Adams and Lucille Geiger Adams.

An Army veteran of WW II, he served in Africa and in the European and Pacific Theatres. Hap was a project manager and jobber with Sinclair Oil, owned a construction company and later in life was a project manager for numerous construction companies including Burris Construction and Hock Development.

A lifelong member of Main Street United Methodist Church, he loved his church where he volunteered with the youth group and was a member of the A.B. Ferguson Sunday School Class. He was also mason and shriner.

Hap stated many times that he was truly blessed by his many special friends and his wonderful family.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-three years, Margaret Burley Adams; sons and daughters-in-law, William Thomas and Nancy Adams of Crownsville, MD and Robert C. and Sherry Adams of Flat Rock, NC; grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth Adams, Robert Barrett Adams and Will Adams; brother-in-law and special friend, Charles Burley of Columbia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers, William F. Adams and Thomas L. Adams.

Interment was in Elmwood Cemetery and Gardens.
