MARION - Graveside services for Mary Lee Gooch Baker, 90, will be held at 11 a.m. today, September 4, 2000, at Baker Cemetery directed by Smith-Collins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Baker, widow of Harrell Eugene "Gene" Baker, died Saturday, September 2, 2000, in Sandpiper Convalescent Center, Mt. Pleasant, after an illness. Born August 19, 1910, in Chester Co., she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee Gooch and Martha Heath Barber Gooch. She was a former teacher and graduate of Winthrop College. Mrs. Baker was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marion, where she was a member of the Lem Winesett Sunday School Class and the Morning Study Group.

Surviving are her daughters, Martha Jo B. Stuart of Sullivans Island, Mary Jean "Jeannie" Baker of Sullivans Island and formerly of Marion; grandchildren, Brett Stuart, Sean Stuart. Mrs. Baker was predeceased by sisters Robbie G. Baker, Martha Barber Gooch and Margaret G. McDonald.
