Funeral Services for Mr. Rufus Reed will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 22nd at Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church with Bishop Edward C. Knight, Officiating. Visitation is 1 to 5 PM Friday, March 21st in the Brannum Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Lone Star Cemetery under the direction of Brannum Funeral Home, Inc.
I Just want to make it to heaven I just want to make it in I just want to cross that river I want to be free from sin I just want my name written in the lambs Book of Life, and when this life is over I just want to have eternal life I want to hear him say "Well done"
A time to be born: Mr. Reed was born October 7, 1920 to Will and Ida Reed in Lake Village, Ark. He was the youngest of ten.
Profession of Faith: Being reared in a Christian home influenced Mr. Reed to accept Christ as his personal savior at an early age. After a separation from his Christian journey he came back to the fold and united with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Ruben Oliver there he remained until his health overcame him, he resided at St. Joseph home until he earn his wings on March 8, 2014.
The Journey: Mr. Reed spent time in various places until he met the love of his life; August 21, 1949 he was married to Daisy (Phelps) Reed and to that union two daughters was born. Mr. Reed had numerous jobs; his passion was hunting and fishing, not to mention he loved to ride his bike he rode up until his late eighty. He was a quieted loving man who loved to help others. He took care of other people animals and garden doing his younger years he enjoy taking care and doing for those who needed help.
A time to die: Mr. Reed loved life till the fullness riding his bike, hunting and fishing was such a passion, and now he has made his finial transition to the other side to receive his reward in heaven. A beautiful life has ended at ninety-three years, we were so blessed to have had him for that length of time here with us, he left his legacy beginning with his two daughters follow by his grandchildren great grandchildren, nephew's and great nephews as well as all of his cousins, but our confessions and belief in the Master assures us that we will see him again.
Preceding Mr. Reed in death was: His parents, four sisters, five brothers, his late wife Daisy Reed and stepson Harry Phillips.
To cherish fond memories of Mr. Reed are: two daughters Bert Graham of Monroe, La. Jean Reed of Las Vegas, NV: Three grandchildren Jay Reed AZ and Kory Graham, seven great grandchildren all of Las Vegas, NV; A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew and host of great great nieces and nephews. Mr. Reed embraced Ms. Thomasine Banks and her daughter Tiffney Banks as part of his extended family. Much Kind thanks to the Staff and Management of St. Joseph home in Monroe, La
