George Thomas Courmier, 76, passed Monday, June 8, 2015, in the comfort of his home.
He was a native and resident of Vinton for 65 years before moving to Sulphur 8 years ago. George retired from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Department after 20 years of service and was currently working part-time with the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's office.
He is survived by his son, Darrell Courmier and partner, Joe Mendez of Sulphur; daughter, Terrie Payne; grandchildren, Brandy Primeaux and husband Jeromie, Colleen White, Chris Payne, and Todd Abshire and wife, Monica, all of Sulphur, Paula Richard and husband, Dorsey, and Megan Doucette, all of Lake Charles, and Laura Bellard and husband, Mike of Ragley; along with twelve great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Burlene Courmier; his mother, Lorene "Scoots" Courmier; and his daughter, Georgie Courmier Matte.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11, in Granger Cemetery in Vinton under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. The Rev. Doyle Evans will officiate. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
