A native of Bogue Chitto, Miss., and a resident of Plaquemine for 44 years, Roger died at his home on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007, at 1:55 p.m.
Visitation at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine, on Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine, at noon Thursday. Interment in Grace Memorial Park.
Survived by his wife, Paula Mancuso Adams; son, Nick V. "Frog" Adams and his friend, Nancy Hebert; daughter, Lovee Rodriguez and her spouse, Lenny; four grandchildren, Brey and Evyn Adams, both of Pierre Part, and Kamryn and Logan Rodriguez, both of Plaquemine; four sisters, Thelma Norman, Erma Miller, Audrey Posey and her spouse, Jack, all of Lincoln County, Miss., and Bobbie Kitchen and spouse Richard, of Vicksburg, Miss.; two brothers, Roy Adams and his spouse, Judy, of Marshall, Texas, and Troy Adams and his spouse, Virginia, of Lucien, Miss.; three sisters-in-law, Lucy Sparacino and her spouse, Angelo, of Baton Rouge, Annie Materine and her spouse, Donald, and Virgie Smart and her spouse, Dean, all of Plaquemine; three brothers-in-law, Tony Mancuso and his spouse, Sadie, of Plaquemine, Joe Mancuso and his spouse, Evelyn, of Brusly, and Angelo Mancuso and his spouse, Alma, of Slaughter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Roger was an avid sports fan, former pitcher and coach for Robert Tire Softball team. He was a volunteer, umpire and coach for his son's baseball team for many years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a retired member of Teamsters Local 5.
Preceded in death by his parents, E.V. "Vince" and Lovie French Adams; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Nick and Annie Mancuso; brother, E.V. Adams Jr.; and sister, Cora Mae Adams.
Pallbearers will be Drew Martinez, Marty Himel, James Posey, Troy Smart, Johnny Stewart, Jeff Miller, Paul Distefano and D.J. Cullen. Honorary pallbearers are David Cullen, David Pearce, Boyd Trahan, Tony Mancuso, Donald Materine, Dean Smart, Angelo Sparacino, Joe Mancuso and John Roy Miller.
Special thanks to the Adams and Mancuso families, Dr. Michael DeLeo and staff, Dr. Falgoust, Dr. Green, Dr. Melancon and their staffs, the Rev. Cleo Milano, Sister Cecile Poitras, Deacon Alfred Ricard, Mrs. Cecile Clement, Shawncey Ponville, Jane Hardy, and Comfort Care Hospice: John and Michael Barbee.
