Funeral services for Mr. Richard Evans, 59, of Hebert were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 1997 at the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Miller, Rev. J. B. Bell and Rev. Johnny Barnhill officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia.

Mr. Evans, the son of the late John and Minnie Louis Evans, was born in Butler, Alabama on September 19, 1937 and died on March 28, 1997 following an extended illness.

He was the owner and operator of Evans' Trucking. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #164.

Survivors include: his wife of 26 years, Linda Evans of Hebert; two sons, Ricky Evans of Columbia and Dallas Evans of Hebert; two daughters, Sheila Duey of Grayson and Penny Williams of Hebert; two brothers, Gerald Evans of Eugene, Oregon and J. B. Evans of Gilbertown, Alabama; three sisters, Myrtle Abston of Butler, Alabama, Annie Ruth Carlisle of Gilbertown, Alabama and Irene Mozingo of Quitman, Mississippi; five grandchildren: Melissa Duey, David Norris, Evan Wilson, Cierra Williams, and Tony Evans.

Pallbearers were Masons: Shannon Franklin, Roger Brown, James Godwin, Charles McClanahan, Steve Briscoe, and Steve May.
