Pearl Etta Stepteau Bynum, On Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 10:15 p.m. a loving angel of God laid Pearl Etta Stepteau Bynum, passionately known as Momma Pearl, to rest in the hands of our Lord and Savior while her loving husband and family witnessed her transition to her new heavenly home. She was 90, born Sept. 3, 1919, in Baton Rouge.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, cousin and friend. She was married to Herman Bynum Sr. for 74 years and to this union 10 children were born.
She was a lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church of Brusly and a school bus driver for West Baton Rouge Parish. Momma Pearl will always be remembered for her kind spirit and caring heart.
Visitation at Antioch Baptist Church, 2778 Billoups Lane, Brusly, religious service, conducted by Michael A. Otkins, pastor.
Interment in the church cemetery.
Left to treasure her precious memory are her devoted husband, Herman Bynum Sr.; three daughters, Patricia Bynum Hamm, Valencia Bynum Davis and husband John, and Beverly Bynum Jones and husband Eric; an adopted granddaughter, Anitra Bynum;
six sons, Herman Bynum Jr. and wife Emelda, New Orleans, Carl Bynum and wife Ida, Randy Bynum and special friend Marie Snearl, Calvin Bynum and wife Annette, Mark Bynum and wife Colleen, Franklin, and Perrie Keith Bynum;
a brother, Thomas Stepteau, also known as Percy Palfry, of Buffalo, N.Y.;
31 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, cousin, Verge Anderson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends from across the country.
