It was Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, about 6:20 p.m. at her parents' home, that Vadais Bynum Warner quietly went from earth to bright glory. Vadais was born Jan. 24, 1962, to the union of Alston and Albertha Bynum in New Orleans.
She was baptized at an early age by the Rev. George A. Smith at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Plaquemine. Vadais was a loving, devoted daughter, sister, mother and wife. She was mild mannered, pleasant to be around and gracious to all she met. To have known her was to have loved her. Sweet spirited was her demeanor. Vadais enjoyed taking care of her family. She nurtured her children and reared them to be kind and helpful. Though quiet in nature, Vadais was cheerful and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Indeed, one with such an outstanding personality will be sorely missed.
To cherish her precious memory Vadais leaves her loyal and devoted husband, Jerome Warner Sr.; three wonderful sons, Jerome "Jay" Warner Jr., Al Jerard Warner and Justin Jamal Warner; her loving parents, Alston and Albertha Bynum; one terrific brother, Alston Bynum Jr.; a nephew, Austin Jabori Ingalls;
six aunts, Melvina Askins and her godmother, Lorena Askins of Plaquemine, Mary Ella Dandridge of New Orleans, Clara and husband Lionel LeJeune and Marilyn Bynum, all of Lukeville, and Carrie and husband Robert Bradley of Baton Rouge;
six uncles, Alvin and wife Verna Bynum, Marin City, Calif., Emmanuel Bynum, Lukeville, Elijah and wife Bernice Askins and the Rev. Louis C. and wife Bessie Askins, all of Plaquemine, and Landry and wife Janet Askins and Marvin and Mahalia Bynum, all of Baton Rouge;
a great-aunt, Dorothy Johnson of Lukeville; mother-in-law, Lizzie Scott;
three sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Vadais was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dave and Albertha Askins; her paternal grandparents, Vanderbilt and Beatrice Bynum; other relatives and friends.
Hall's Mortuary, Port Allen, in charge of arrangements.
