James Stuart Ainslie Jr., age 94, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Beechtree Care Center, Ithaca, NY.
Jim was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to James Stuart Ainslie and Elizabeth Keppler Boyd on September 17, 1920.
He attended Ithaca High School and Cornell University. He married Shirley Langdon Hughes of Utica, NY on December 7, 1946 in Utica, NY. Following his marriage to Shirley they began their life together on his family's dairy farm on West Hill in Ithaca, NY. He was a devoted, proud and loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. Jim will be remembered as a life-long member of the First Congregational Church, Ithaca, NY, an avid supporter of Ithaca High School and Cornell University Athletics. He was an active participant in the Cornell Cooperative Extension community, Sertoma, and the Masons. He was proud to serve on and a valued member of the Town of Ithaca Planning Board. Jim will be missed by his family and friends for his many stories told with amazing sharpness.
Jim was predeceased by his wife of 66 years Shirley Hughes Ainslie and his sister Elizabeth Ainslie Kelly.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.........
Interment will be in the spring at the convenience of the family at the Hayt's Cemetery, Ithaca, NY. Bangs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
