Funeral services for Mr. Lester Gillespie, 74, were held Thursday, June 17, 2001, at Salem Baptist Church. Interment followed in Salem Cemetery in Teague. Officiating was Rev. C.W. Gillespie. Mr. Gillespie was born in Freestone County, where he attended school and passed away on June 14, in Corsicana, Texas. He lived in California for many years, where he was employed in Los Angeles for 13 and a half years and was a member of the Fairfield Baptist Church. He served as a trustee and he was also a member of the Fairfield Men's Chorus. He served in the U.S. Military. He is survived by his wife, Lize Gillespie; two brothers, Rev. C.W. Gillespie of Fort Worth, and Albert Gillespie; two sisters, Doris McWilliams of Teague, Choyce Mays of Fort Worth. He was preceded in death by parents, and siblings Claudie Gillespie, Wadell Gillespie, Melvin Gillespie, Elvessie Gillespie, Arietha Gillespie, and Cleo Gillespie. His sister, Nelda Patterson, also preceded him in death. Emanuel Funeral Home #2, in Teague, was in charge of arrangements
