He was born in Broadalbin on February 13, 1948, a son of Stewart and Ethel Lansburg Beatty. Roland moved to Virginia in 1970 to serve with the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department. He served for five years before joining the White House Secret Service Uniformed Division, where he served from the Carter through the Clinton administrations. Mr. Beatty retired as a captain.
Roland was a wonderful husband and father. He truly loved and cared for his family.
Survivors include his wife, Saodah Ambiah Beatty; a son, Safuan Beatty of Arlington, Va.; and a sister-in-law, Sapiah Ambiah.
A graveside service will be held at the Union Mills Cemetery
