Athlete whose very promising career was cut short by her early death. She won silver in the 1968 Olympic women's 400 metres event. In 1969 she created a world record of 3 min. 30.8 secs. in the 4x400m. at the European Championships and was awarded a gold medal. Her illness prevented her from particpating in the 1972 Olympics. (bio by: David Conway)
