Alvin S. Aldrich was born at Swanton, Vt. February 9th, 1829
and moved, with his parents, to this state in April 1829. he lived in Bangor until 1858 when he moved to the town of Dickinson and lived on the place now known as the Russell
Cottage-farm. In 1865 he moved to this town where he has resided ever since. At that time he was young and the country new; it was only hard labor and good calculation that he could live in, the new place and provide for his family but at that time the sound of his ax was music to the wilderness and wild beasts of the same, or the sound of his voice to his oxen as he drove them, along or the creak of his cart as it rolled threw the mud and over the rocks and roots and often the sound of old, came from his lips, "Hush gee Bright come along' but alas as time passed he grew old and has bade adieu to his family and friends and gone to the Angels of rest. He died at his home in the town of Waverly, September 23d 1887.
