Helen Tanksley Dunbar, 52, of Detroit, Michigan, and formerly of Austin passed away along with her husband Hamlett Dunbar on Sunday, May 8, 2005.
Helen was born August 11, 1952, to Jessie Lee (King) Tanksley and Hillard Tanksley Sr. in Georgetown. She attended and graduated from Georgetown High School and later graduated from Southwestern University in 1979. She was a school teacher in Detroit at the time of her death. Helen enjoyed writing, and was presently working with a friend to get the friendís movie produced.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by two daughters, Haven Eunita Dunbar of Austin and Rosanna Joi Dunbar of Ypsilanti, Michigan; five sisters, Betty Collins of Austin, Hazel Hatcher of Topeka, Kansas, Mollie Sabb of Jarrell, Bedelia Hatter of Gonzales, Louisiana, and Debrah Riley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; three brothers, Hillard Tanksley Jr. of San Antonio, Arthur W.ĒA.W.Ē Tanksley of Taylor and Oliver ďO.C.Ē Tanksley of Austin; special niece, Sandra Miller of Georgetown and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Helenís husband Hamlett were held on Saturday, Mary 21, 2005, in Detroit, Michigan.
Helenís family received gusts for visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, in the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Robert Lynch officiating. Interment services followed in the Rocky Hollow Cemetery outside of Georgetown.
Serving as pallbearers were Helenís nephews.
