John F. Affleck, who had long been familiarly known to the children in the Stuyvesant Heights section of Brooklyn as "Father Affleck," died on Sunday at his home, 555 Madison street, in his ninety-fourth year. He was born in Scotland and came to this country in his boyhood. He joined the Methodist denomination nearly eighty years ago and was the oldest member of the Janes Church. He is survived by a son and two daughters.

FYI: There is a long obituary of John Smith Affleck in The Westfield Leader newspaper on May 12, 1909 on page 3. It states where he was born, when he came to America and all of his children and history of his life. A rare thing in 1909.
