Miss E. Sophia Beebe
Manchester Center - Miss E. Sophia Beebe, 71, died Wednesday in the Rutland Hospital after an illness of several months.
Born in East Dorset Oct 21, 1891, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Jenne (Crawford) Beebe. She was a member of the Manchester Congregational Church, as graduate of Burr and Burton Seminary of Manchester and was a teacher in the Manchester and Peru schools. She also taught music in Bennington High School. A graduate of Columbia University, New York City, she majored in music. For 13 years, Miss Beebe was the supervisor of music in the public schools of Hammonton, N.J.
She returned to Manchester 35 years ago to care for her mother and sister.
Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Edith M. Brophy of East Dorset; a niece and a nephew.
Funeral services will be conducted at her late home in Manchester Center at 2 pm Saturday by the Rev. E. H. Nickerson, pastor of the Congregational Church.
Burial will be in the East Dorset Cemetery.
Friends may call at her home from 2 to 5 pm Friday.
