Tekla Albov died February 21 in Carmel following a brief illness.
Mrs. Albov was born in Mayfield Pennsylvania October 19, 1913 and was the youngest of 10 children in her family, all of whom predeceased her. She attended business college in Scranton and was employed by the Federal government in Washington, DC during and after World War II.
Tekla moved to the Peninsula in 1948 to marry Alexander P. Albov who was beginning his professorial career at the Army Language School (now the DLI). Mrs. Albov was a legal secretary at Fort Ord before her retirement in 1971 and enjoyed membership as a long time active member of the DLI Womens' Club. In retirement she actively participated in St. Seraphim's Russian Orthodox Church Sisterhood and traveled to Europe and Russia with her husband. He died in 1989.
She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Elizabeth, both of Monterey and their daughter Sophia who is attending college in Sacramento.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday February 25 at 10AM at St. Seraphim's Russian Orthodox Church at Laguna Grande Park, Canyon del Rey, Seaside. Burial will follow at the Monterey City Cemetery. Memorial gifts are suggested to St. Seraphim Russian Orthodox Church, PO Box 5813 Monterey, CA 93944-0813.
